Young Designer’s Platform at Accent on Design/The New York International Gift Fair, and ‘new organics’ designer Stanley Ruiz was featured as one of the bright young stars on the design scene.
The Brooklyn designer artfully fuses craft, natural artifacts, and
industrial design know-how to create sculptural objects that are grafted
with new life and budding green promise.
Stanley Ruiz is really branching out with his latest ceramic collection, ‘Growth Series’,
which is adorned with Manzanita twigs. Following on the popularity of
his twig jewelry, these new forms have already caught the eye of major
collectors and design retailers. Inspired by his time working with
artisans in Southeast Asia as well as community-based craft and
fair-trade initiatives, one can further understand the nature/tech
dialogue that occurs in his contemporary home accessories and furniture
designs.
His works have most recently been shown at Maison&Objet in Paris, the designboom mart, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), and now the A+: Young Designer’s exhibition.
