The outer rectangular frames with reeded mouldings and gilt-brass
paterae to the corners enclosing a central scallop edged oval plate with
trefoil frame and having scrolling gilt-brass mounts to the corners.
Each being ebonised.
This unusual Regency design owes much in its conception to George
Bullock's strong Neo-Classical designs; the brass mounts are
particularly reminiscent of his work and one could surmise that the
components were bought from the dispersal sale at Tenterden Street in
1819. (Rose Uniacke)
